They say you know who is true when life gets hard.
The ones who stand forward are the ones who have always been there..
But sometimes, it’s the ones you least expect.
Not because you misjudged their character or their morals
But because they maybe aren’t with you in your every day lives.
All of these people, both the constant and the infrequent
Deserve an acknowledgement,
Some words of thanks.
Sometimes the people who show up
Are not the ones you would have expected.
They say it takes a village to raise a child…
I am that child,
and I am grateful, in this moment, for that village.
For someone who averaged anywhere between 1000 – 1300 steps a day, every couple of weeks. I took on the challenge of REDJanuary to get active.
I aimed for 5000 steps a day, every day. I gave myself the option of fewer steps, as long as I went out of the house at some point.
My goal was that every single day, I would venture out and get some fresh polluted air. I did well.
I did have 3 days where I felt exhausted and thus did not push myself. I am a firm believer that you do as much as you can but KNOW YOUR LIMITS.
I started small with 5000 steps and aim to continue on. I will no longer be actively counting my steps but I shall be trying to keep up the positive change of getting out into the fresh air at least once a day.
Along this road, there is a school. A school that left with enough trauma that I have not been able to walk by it since I left at age 12.
Despite many attempts and the support of a friend – it was just never something I could do without extreme anxiety.
Today though, I smashed it!
5,700 steps later, I felt triumphant!
